What Have We Learnt This Week In Gold Class?

In maths the children looked at the concept of equal groups, practised counting in equal groups and adding them together, explored counting in groups of two to find the total and explored grouping objects in tens to find the total.

Our tricky word for the week was ‘my’ and the sounds that we recapped were: ee, or, oo.

Have fun with your child learning the sounds and actions that they learnt this week with the ‘Jolly Phonics Phase 3’ video.

Don’t practice until you get it right. Practice until you can’t get it wrong.

How many tricky words can you write in one minute?

Parents/Carers, why don’t you compete with your child?

First, watch the video your child then use the 1 minute timer to see how many ‘tricky words’ you both can write.

(Try and practise writing a few tricky words everyday).

Here’s a 1 Minute Timer.

This week we finished off looking at the story of ‘The Rainbow Fish’ and then looked at another lovely, wonderful rhyming story called ‘Sharing A Shell’ by Julia Donaldson, a story of friendship. The children had a discussion about the story, about sharing, friendship and they also talked about their favourite sea creature.
